Barcelona Built: A Photo Essay

Barcelona's streets are haunting. Not in a literal sense, although that debate could be had, but in the ways that its streets and buildings tell stories of the passage of time. The winding streets and stone facades whisper secrets as you walk along, holding a place in literature and art in and of itself in works such as The Shadow of the Wind

Taken over a week in October of 2014, these photos only capture glimpses of this detailed city. While many striking places aren't found below, these are meant to spark your desire to take a trip to the Gothic city.

Park Guell boasts some of the most beautiful tiles in all of Spain. With colors and patterns running along the border of the park, you can see where the master Gaudi was headed with his grand mosaic plans for this unfinished community.
