Park Guell boasts some of the most beautiful tiles in all of Spain. With colors and patterns running along the border of the park, you can see where the master Gaudi was headed with his grand mosaic plans for this unfinished community.
Below the tiles, an archway of rocks lean together in obtuse angles, curving in and out to form a passage way that invites the wanderer further underneath.
The archway of the Arc de Triumph stands out against the empty park, cement walkways leading up to its brick facade. The details stand triumphant while people mill around its base, looking up.
The grand stairs near Olympic Park capture the drama of the space, highlighting the colored tiles and repeating fountains as you ascend towards the relics of games past.
In the darkness of the narrow and winding streets it's necessary to look up at the sky and take in the balconies littered with plants. The shadows lessen and the sun highlights the curves of each terrace.
The Sagrada Familia haunts Barcelona from above, it's dripping presence being built slowly for years.
